Hasan Onur KELES

Resarch Engineer

I earned my PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Houston, followed by postdoctoral training in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), affiliated with Harvard Medical School. I subsequently pursued an international academic and research career through various positions and collaborations in Türkiye, the United States, and France. Throughout my career, I have held teaching and research positions in neuroengineering, maintaining a strong interdisciplinary focus at the intersection of neuroscience and engineering.

I use functional neuroimaging methods, including functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), EEG, and peripheral physiological sensors, to investigate human performance, cognitive load, motor learning, and memory. I have particular expertise in integrating multimodal approaches, including the combined use of fNIRS and EEG. Over the past decade, I have developed an approach to studying cognition that integrates mobile brain imaging, virtual reality paradigms, and experimental protocols conducted in real-world settings.

Research Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the fNIRS and EEG systems within the Virtualia platform: system setup, protocol implementation, researcher support, and data analysis.
